C – Getting Started

GETTING STARTED #

System requirements #

Workstation minimum configuration:

Pentium processor

Microsoft® Windows® 10

4GB of RAM

USB Memory Stick or access to the website (for installation files download)

Monitor with a minimum resolution of 1024 x 768

Mouse or other pointing device

The higher the hardware specification the better.

Installation #

From Windows Explorer, double click on the setup.exe file on your Flash drive Or: From the location of the downloaded installation file.

Follow the prompts to install ATMS to your computer hard drive.

NOTE:
Each machine installation will install an empty ATMS database file in the ATMS database directory. If you are running a networked installation, a copy of the database should be made to the appropriate network drive and path.

Once the “live” database has been installed, each ATMS installation must be configured by running the ATMS set-up application (atms config.exe). This enables the language to be specified, and the ATMS database path. It also allows the location display format to be specified.

OPTIONS:
Single, 16 character field for each location;
3 x 4 character fields separated by “-“;
4 x 3 character fields separated by “-“.

Set-up #

ATMS uses a standard XML file to for the database connection settings. Along with the email and printer setup settings. These entries are written directly to the XML by the ATMS setup application.

ATMS also uses a standard Windows INI file for some global settings.

An example is given below.
[Company] Name=Granmax Info Ltd LogoFile=C:\My Documents\GRANMAX INFO LTD\Images\GRANMAXINFOLTDLogo.jpg[Delivery Address] Address1=My Unit Address2=My Street Address3=My City Address4=My Post Code[Paths] Graphic=C:\Program Files (x86)\ATMS\Graphics SearchGraphic=C:\ Program Files (x86)\ATMS\Graphics Text=C:\ Program Files (x86)\ATMS\Graphics

The INI file allows users to specify certain global information and the file resides in the ATMS database directory.

The Name allows users to specify their company name.
The LogoFile allows users to specify an image file as their company logo.
The Address lines allow the specification of a delivery address.

These appear on the purchase order report, and the logo also appears on some of the standard ATMS reports.

Furthermore, prior to the use of ATMS and the creation of Items, it is advisable to make some system definitions specific to your application. This is done from within the application and requires you to login to the system. (See below.)

DB Update #

ATMS is regularly improved, and new features are frequently added.

Sometimes it is necessary for us to make changes to the database structure – add new fields, etc. To make the upgrade as smooth as possible, there is a version checker and database update utility built into ATMS.

If you load a new version, we strongly advise that all PC’s using the application are updated at the same time.

If there are database changes, when the new version of ATMS is started, it will inform the user that the database is out of date, and offer to update it.

It is important that if the new version is to be used, the database update is undertaken, as it could cause problems and the application to crash.

When loading a new version, and updating the database version, it is essential that all ATMS users have logged out of and shut down the ATMS application on all PC’s for the duration of the update.
